Melvenia Pellerin has served 17 years with the Houston Independent School
District (HISD) in various facets of Special Education. Ms. Pellerin is a
graduate of Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Communicative Disorders and a Masters of Education degree in Educational
Administration. Ms. Pellerin has taught in all special education
programs: resource, generic, self-contained, behavior service center,
multiply-impaired and content mastery. She has also served as a lead Special
Education mathematics and science liaison as well as an Alternative
Certification Program (ACP) mentor. Ms. Pellerin’s leadership experience
began as a Special Education department chairperson before being appointed as
a HISD Special Education Coordinator. Subsequently, Ms. Pellerin was
appointed as a Lead Special Education Coordinator with emphasis on
appropriate program placements for students, federal and state compliance
Special Education issues along with state and district policies and
procedures. Ms. Pellerin's motto is "all children can learn"
